Born in Nagoya, KUBOTA was awakened to classic music triggered by the music he listened to on the record when he was 14 years old. He started playing cello in his college years.
He opened a private workshop in 1976 and started to import string instruments, as well as repairs and restoration. He developed his business and established CHACONNE in 1982.
As a worldwide string instrument dealer, Kubota has been travelling all over the world including London, New York, and Paris as the heartland of the old violin market, Cremona and Mittenwald as the mecca of violin-making, and Beijing and Shanghai where violins are actively made these days, handling vast number of instruments.
He discovered a structure common to Old Italian instruments and the type of varnish used, as he restored and adjusted fine old instruments, which became the basis of his production of the new instrument gCHACONNE.h
gCHACONNEh is presently used regularly by more than 300 players in Japan and overseas.
